snow :)..... valentine givaway on post below

We have so much snow happening around here! We did get ice first and thankfully our power is still up and running! We are staying warm, but the children are a bit bored, although they have played "pig" basketball inside and also best of 5 shooting free throws. They are all headed outside right now for 4- wheeler/snow board action. All but Mercy that is! Terry and her are over there in a chair snuggled up together watching the Gods and Generals movie. It s a four hour movie, so she'll be occupied for a little while anyway!!! I want Anna to get out there with her camera but will have to wait until the snow stops:)

The bathroom tile is done. We are just waiting for tomorrow to put the "dunny" back on, (the tolilet). That's what they say if your from Australia! It looks great! Terry said they will have to expand their business cards to tiling now!

Ok, I guess that's all the update for now. I'm gonna get some coffee and watch the movie too! The Valentine Giveaway post is below and I gave another hint, so hopefully some body will get it right!!! You all better come on, the Burnett Family is punching hard to win!!! Talk to ya tomorrow announcing the Winner at noon central time, unless I have to come back and give another hint!

a valentine giveaway.....

****ok, still need more specific.....your getting warm........ hint-"western."****

**** It has nothing to do with our bathroom****(we'll see how you do with that hint, I want somebody to win!!!!)

***a little harder than anticipated......I have to know the specific "what it is" and "what it is on".....and we'll let you give as many guesses as you like!!!!!!!*********(see picture below)

There are TWO things that is very hard to do around here!!! Can you guess???? The first is getting on the computer and the other is getting into a bathroom!!! We have two bathrooms but one is highly used. We only have one computer! Oh, well......

On the last post of all the beautiful pictures that Anna took. I did not tell her to go and take certain subjects. You put a girl and a beautiful day together and you get great pictures! When I looked a them, I immediately saw the message of Jesus, I too was so blessed by the pictures!!!

The guys are here today. Oklahoma has declared a state of emergency. It is predicted a major ice storm. Remember back in Dec. 07, we were out of power for 5 days and some people were out for weeks. How we pray that does not happen again! So, in the meantime, the pink tile in the bathroom is coming out!!! Terry had an air tool to get the old tile out and wow, what a mess. It was like when they were tearing out the back wall for the new space. Now they are ready to lay the tile, tomorrow they will grout and it will be Sat until it is usable.

Since we are stuck in the house, I have some "Valentine Goodies" to give away!!! Can you guess what the picture is????? The winner will be the first one that guess right! Lets play until Sat. 3oth, at noon central time. No anonymous and lets just do two guesses per person. If for some reason we loose power I might not get here to announce the winner, but will ASAP!! Ok, so go for it!!!! What is it?????

As requested, the Sugar Cookie recipe is on the post below this one.

sugar cookie and icing recipe...

As requested:

I know I have posted this somewhere but who knows where??? Its just a basic recipe, nothing fancy.

Sugar Cookies
(we usually 3 times it)

1/2 c. butter softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. almond extract
2 c. flour
2 tsps. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

cream together butter and sugar, add egg and almond extr. Mix together flour, baking powder
and salt. Divide dough into two equal parts to work with. Roll about 1/8 inch thickness, cut into
shapes. Place on lightly sprayed cookie sheets. Bake at 350* for 10-12 minutes, top rack, until
edges are barely browned. Cool on pan and then remove carefully to wire racks.

On the icing, I have two that I use. One is the regular decorator icing with the horrible shortening. I do not use this one often.
Icing
4 c. powder sugar
1/2 tsp. almond extract
4 Tbls. shortening
4-8 tsp. milk, maybe more
(enough to make a smooth creamy consistency, not runny)
wilton coloring, do a little and add to get color desired

I use a pastry bag to decorate the details with and spread
the bigger parts with a knife

Butter Cream Icing
1/3 c. butter softened
4 c. powder sugar
3-4 Tbls. milk
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract

Mix together. I use my electric mixer, but only mix until
it is smooth. I have over mixed and the butter seems to curdle or something.
add coloring.

I had another question relating to the guys music CD. They were wondering if the arrangements were available as sheet music. It s not at this time, but maybe in the future. Thanks for inquiring, maybe it will be motivation for them to pursue this option.

seeing Jesus.....

Did you see Jesus today? May we look for Him in all that we do!

we are in bondage, all have sinned.....

He came from the heights of glory
to walk
the dusty roads for sinners.....

He was scourged and beaten.....

they put a crown of thorns upon His head.....

and nails through his hands and feet......

he died upon a tree....

he invites sinners to come and drink of the living water....

he did all this for you and for me..... to set us free........

It was such a nice day today, Anna was just out taking random pictures and I saw Jesus in all these, just wanted us all to remember what He has done.

mavie's baby shower......

The baby shower was very nice. Little Lilian got soooo many cute things!!!! Did you see the tiny flip flops on the cake???? I saw those and snatched them up so quick, knowing they were to be Mavie's without a doubt!!!! We have known Dave now for about 2 1/2 years and there has only been likely a handful of times that he did NOT have on flip-flops! He wears them rain, sun, snow, church and workin' on his farm!!! They are his signature!! You know he's an "island man," born and raised until his teens in Guam!!! So when I saw those flip-flops, I knew Mavie had to have them!!! Lilian is so sweet, she's growing and being hauled around and held by the Morris' and she is getting lots of "adventures" out on the prospective 160 acres as Dave and Kate go non-stop with her hangin' in a pouch!!

That was one busy weekend!! This week also looks like I'll have to have it in third gear too. Elijah has volunteer fire training on Thurs. He's going to some sort of tornado training. And remember the Wisconsin wedding the children went to? Remember Matt, refried beans, snow and all that craziness?? Since the wedding was up there they are going to have another reception here for those that did not make it to the wedding. So Friday night we are going to that and Caleb and Daniel are suppose to play at the reception. Then on Sat. night Terry and all the fathers of our church fellowship are meeting together to discuss plans and visions.

Congratulations to JOSIAH DANIEL MORRIS!!!!!! He is the proud owner of a "top spot" on another set of bunk beds given to us. We now have 4 sets of bunk beds in the boys room. The configuration of them works well, they are in the master bed room so its big and roomy. One thing about this house it has worked well with our size family. It was so nice to have the space for this weekend, the BD party, church and the shower. I have been working on the front bathroom. Making it western/rustic looking. The walls are textured and ready to paint. We have the tool to take the old tile off the floors so hopefully soon I can get the pink tile out of there. Its not looking to good with a western shower curtain and pink tile!!!! A little at a time is the way we have to work with projects around here.

I think I need a nap.....

osu cheerleader party for hosie

Ok, here's the run down of the OSU Cheerleader party. Hosanna's 8th birthday!!!! We made it back from the wedding around 4:45 pm. Grilled up some yummy burgers and hot dogs at the "Sports Grill." The team was so hungry as we really did not eat lunch. Next we were ready for the games. We had a "Field" Goal Kick." Terry help make it out of pvc pipe and we could not have done that if it were not for our new space!!!!!!! Josiah was the first to do it!!!! Another game was throwing the football through a ring and Jeremiah took the win on this one. The funnest game was, "Team Spirit." We had two teams lined up and facing each other and they had to hold hands and not let go, the first one in line took the hula hoop and wiggled and moved it to the next person in line down to the end person and then they had to come back down the line again with the hula hoop and all had to be holding hands. Maybe as you look at the picture it will make more sense. It was funny to see very long and tall guys trying to fit through the hoop!!! And as always and we have to keep with our reputation of deterioration of going down hill at the end of parties, the guys came up with getting the mattresses out of the boys room and jumping through the field goal posts onto the mattresses!!!!! I guess you can see the pictures......pure craziness!!!!!! I have some hilarious video, maybe I can get some up next week!!!!!!!!! It was a great party for Hosie and now she and her little brothers are busy playing with the new birthday gifts.

A day of remembering our sweet Joel too......your forever on our "team." Thank you to all of you for the prayers and all the kind e-mails and comments, I "felt" your prayers. No matter if its 3 years or 50 years, I will miss him and wish he were here. God is faithful!

Well, now we are getting things back in order for church here tomorrow and getting things ready for the baby shower.

Have a blessed Lord's Day!!!!!
