Palin Apologetic

****For the Record...we are not voting for Oboma******

I am stepping in and sharing our views here as we are one.

I have been a republican voter since 1980, and have voted for republican candidates in every election since that time. I am not a Democrat, and I am not a supporter for Obama. Also, understand at the outset that I believe that men and women have equal worth before God, but they have different scriptural roles ordained by Him.

As we look at Palin’s nomination to vice president, we must understand that feminism is much more than simply supporting abortion on demand. Modern feminism can be traced back to the Seneca Falls, NY conference for women around 1850. Women demanded then, among other things, the right to speak in the churches. This was a demand in direct contradiction to scripture. I Corinthians 14:34-35 says, “Let your women keep silence in the churches, for it is not permitted unto them to speak, but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.” The church held on for a long time to this truth, but now you can attend so called evangelical churches with women pastors, and you can go to so called conservative churches that reject women pastors, but they allow women to speak from their pulpits on a regular basis.

Later the feminists demanded that contraception be legalized. Up until the early 1900’s our culture was one that accepted the biblical truth that children are a blessing. Psalm 127:3 says, “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” In the early part of the 20th century the country by and large believed that contraception is a direct attack on that truth. God opens the womb and closes the womb. We should let Him have that control and not take it upon ourselves to close the womb. The feminists attacked this biblical truth by demanding the legalization of contraception. Please note that these feminists of the 1910’s never mentioned abortion at the time.

When the American church gave up the fight and accepted the practice of contraception in the churches, she led the way right into abortion. Until the church repents we should not expect to see abortion defeated, because by accepting the philosophy of contraception (the rejection of children), she has also accepted the philosophy of abortion.

Later, feminists demanded the right to work outside the home and have careers. Once again they were attacking specific biblical truths stated clearly in Titus 2:4-5, “That they (the older women) may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” It is interesting to note that many states as late as the 1920’s had laws on the books against married women in the workforce.

Once again, the church in America gave up the fight, and with few exceptions, working women sit in evangelical churches and are never confronted with this biblical truth about women working at home.

When we see women speaking in churches, when we see women in churches practicing contraception, when we see women in churches working outside the home, then we see how feminism has conquered the American evangelical church, and that church does not realize that she has been defeated.

It comes as no surprise then, to me, that many evangelical leaders and members are so excited about Sarah Palin. They gave up the fight over women working years ago. Even though Sarah Palin is a conservative republican, she embodies feminist goals and practices, working outside the home in direct contradiction to scripture.

Another biblical problem with Mrs. Palin’s candidacy, and other working women outside the home, is the scripture in Ephesians 5, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” A Christian wife is to willingly submit herself to her own husband. Willing submission to one man is God’s order. If Mrs. Palin becomes vice president she will have two authorities to which to answer, her husband and John McCain. The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” This is a biblical principle and it would be wise for Mrs. Palin to see this, and refuse to put herself in a position where she will be called to submit to another man other than her husband. This principle holds true for other Christian women working under male supervisors.

Many of these passages come from the apostle Paul. In one instance when he was dealing with these issues he said this in I Timothy 2: 12-13, “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve.” Notice how the apostle roots his doctrine in Creation as revealed in the book of Genesis, written several thousand years before Paul’s time. It is a dangerous method to take theses scriptures and try to relegate them to New Testament times only. God’s word never changes and it is as applicable to today as much as it was in those times.

In summary, Christian women are called by scripture to be devoted to their husbands, to be devoted to their children as God’s blessings and to receive all that He desires to give, to work at home and make that sphere their domain and to flourish as homemakers in their God given roles.

I have been following your blog for a while now and am a firm believer in Jesus Christ. I agree with most of what you say and commend you for your beliefs and the way you are raising your family. What I have a hard time with is your unaccepting attitude toward progress. I do think that there is a balance and a place for women in this society outside of the home that is pleasing to the Lord. I am a stay at home mom and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I feel it is very important for women to be home with their children and taking care of their families.

That being said, my question to you is, knowing what you believe about where women belong, what about the married women who cannot have children? Where is their place? In the home or in the workplace?

I understood the interpretation of "mammon" to be "money." That no one can serve God and serve money.

Perhaps you are taking these scriptures out of context?

I am thankful that God does not oppress the way your own beliefs oppress.

I agree mostly with the 2nd post. My thinking is what if your husband is a child of God and beats you? What if he wants you to work outside the home? You say a woman must submit to her husband that could be rape! There are several issues that I agree with you about, but many others I don't see the same as you. But that is why we live in a FREE COUNTRY in order to voice our opinions and live the way we see fit.

There are some things you haven't considered for example.. My husband and I are both saved believers and have been for the better part of 25 years. (We are nearly 35)
As far as the contraception.. We would love to have children, but if I were to get pregnant right now. both the child and I would die. because I have about 10-13% kidney function.. My body could not sustain a pregancy. So are you saying I would go to hell because I am taking oral Contraceptives?

You've hit the nail on the head! It is interesting to note that the Supreme Court case that legalized contraception (Griswold v. Connecticut) was used as the precedent for the legalization of abortion. When you consider that oral contraception sometimes fails to prevent fertilization, but succeeds in preventing the fertilized egg from implanting, you realize that the ties between contraception and abortion are much closer than most people wish to acknowledge. Yet, when was the last time a typical American church counseled a young married couple to abstain from birth control? Unfortunately, the advice dished out by modern evangelicals is just the opposite. I know that our pre-marital counseling either didn't address it at all, or it may have actually encouraged us to use contraception. Feminism has permeated our culture and the church. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Morris for being some of the few who are brave enough to publicly condemn it.

I agree with many of these comments. I too believe you are taking scripture out of context. The scripture does not clearly say that a woman cannot submit to her husband and a boss.

If there were no married women in the workforce, our economy would calm to a scretching halt. I imagine a large percentage of children would not be educated. The standard of living in the United States would likely decrease dramatically. The would be an inbalance of views/perspectives/objectives. Women and men think differently and if the country was primarily run by men, we would be out of balance.

I do appreciate you sharing your views. I am a believer and have been for 20+ years and disagree with you on most of your stances, but appreciate them nonetheless! Thank you for taking a stand, even if its not the popular one.

Bravo!!!!! Well said. Your points (from the Bible or from Christ's Biblical perspective!) were terrific and very thought provoking!!!!! 1Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." Actually, all of 1Peter applies quite well!
( : .....I'm praying for you, and am thankful for you..... 2Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." : )

I'm guessing it's safe for us all to assume that your family doesn't accept any donations/assistance/jobs from families with a working wife/mother...right? You wouldn't want to support that.

Gosh....what a heated discussion.

I want to take a moment to let you (the Morris') know that although I do not agree with all that you say, or your political stances, I appreciate and enjoy your blog. Your hearts for God are so evident. Your true love and joy in your children is beautiful. Your writing about the grief of the loss of your son is so darn honest.

Without even realizing it, you are a blessing to so many.

Sincerely,
SF

"I agree with many of these comments. I too believe you are taking scripture out of context. The scripture does not clearly say that a woman cannot submit to her husband and a boss." this is so typical of anybody trying to find wiggle room. i preach at a drug rehab clinic and get the framed arguement. "the Bible doesnt say anything specifically about not doing heroine, so who are you to tell me it does?" and many like it. the absurdity is obvious, but thats exactly what other people do when they need a loophole. the text says what it says. we shouldnt try to fit our details in but apply the general principle out of.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The Scripture is quite clear. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family. Your family is still in my family's prayers.
